Vietnam Net reported on February 20 that according to the preliminary statistics of Vietnam Customs, in January 2025, Vietnam imported more than 490 million dollars of textile clothing and leather footwear raw materials, a month on month decrease of 23.7% and a year-on-year decrease of 12.9%. The trade deficit was more than 300 million dollars.

Mainland China is Vietnam's largest importer of textile, clothing and leather footwear raw materials, accounting for 61.9%, with the import amount reaching US $304 million, down 13% month on month and 5.9% year on year; The second is South Korea, accounting for 5.8%, with imports of US $28.42 million, down 36% month on month and 40.8% year on year; The United States ranked third, accounting for 5.5%, with imports of US $26.86 million, down 32.6% month on month and 19.4% year on year. Taiwan ranked fourth, accounting for 4.8%, with imports of US $23.57 million, down 17.4% month on month and 24.7% year on year.
